| Black Thursdays is a jazz quartet based in the Netherlands, featuring Pietro Mirabassi on tenor saxophone, Enrico Le Noci on guitar, Arjun Ramdas on bass and Erik Köhl on drums. Started in 2021 as a trio from a weekly residency, the name of the group draws from the modest compensation the gig started with (an allusion to Black Friday deals). As this residency continues to this day, the group has spent years digging deep into the jazz repertoire of the giants and the Great American Songbook. After further studies at the Tribeca Jazz Institute in New York, the group expanded to a quartet and recorded its debut album: a one-day session of 12 songs, featuring originals and lesser-known material from the songbook and composers like Freddie Redd and Lucky Thompson. The album was recorded in The Hague with no overdubs or edits, capturing the interplay, spontaneity and pure playing of the band.

| Black Thursdays is een jazzkwartet gevestigd in Nederland, met Pietro Mirabassi op tenorsaxofoon, Enrico Le Noci op gitaar, Arjun Ramdas op bas en Erik Köhl op drums.
De groep begon in 2021 als trio vanuit een wekelijkse residentie; de naam verwijst naar de bescheiden vergoeding waarmee de gig startte (een knipoog naar Black Friday-deals).
Omdat deze residentie tot op vandaag doorgaat, heeft de groep jarenlang diep gegraven in het jazzrepertoire van de groten en in het Great American Songbook.
Na verdere studies aan het Tribeca Jazz Institute in New York breidde de groep uit tot een kwartet en nam het zijn debuutalbum op: een eendaagse sessie met 12 nummers, met eigen composities en minder bekend materiaal uit het songbook en van componisten als Freddie Redd en Lucky Thompson.
Het album werd opgenomen in Den Haag, zonder overdubs of edits, en legt zo de interactie, spontaniteit en pure speelplezier van de band vast.
