Škrijelj en Malmendier vullen elkaar aan en onderzoeken de mogelijkheden van hun instrumenten. De benadering is inventief. Samen ontstaat er een speels en intens samenspel waarin Emilie en Tom elkaar voortdurend uitdagen en inspireren. Sinds 2019 vormen zij het duo Les Marquises, waarmee zij op tal van internationale festivals hebben gespeeld, waaronder Météo Music Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Jazz à Luz, Music Unlimited, FIMAV (Canada), Archipel Festival en Konfrontationen Festival. Daarnaast werkten zij samen met toonaangevende musici uit de internationale improvisatiescene, onder wie Otomo Yoshihide, Mike Ladd, Michael Thieke, Webb Crawford en Michael Foster. Voor liefhebbers van avontuurlijke improvisatie belooft dit een bijzonder concert te worden, waarin de accordeon en percussie op verrassende wijze samenkomen. Muziek die uitnodigt tot aandachtig luisteren, nieuwsgierig maakt en steeds nieuwe klankwerelden opent. Accordionist Émilie Škrijelj and percussionist Tom Malmendier create an ever-evolving sonic landscape in which imagination takes centre stage. Škrijelj and Malmendier complement one another as they explore the possibilities of their instruments with an inventive approach. The result is a playful and intense musical dialogue in which both artists continuously challenge and inspire each other. Since 2019, they have performed together as the duo Les Marquises, appearing at numerous international festivals, including Météo Music Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Jazz à Luz, Music Unlimited, FIMAV (Canada), Archipel Festival, and Konfrontationen Festival. They have also collaborated with leading figures from the international improvised music scene, among them Otomo Yoshihide, Mike Ladd, Michael Thieke, Webb Crawford, and Michael Foster. For lovers of adventurous improvised music, this promises to be a remarkable concert in which accordion and percussion come together in surprising ways.
