How to pay tribute to the great trumpeter Miles Davis with two saxophones?
Stéphane Mercier (alto saxophone) and Vincent Mardens (tenor saxophone) decided to come together to evoke Miles through his different eras, paying tribute to his music and especially to the various groups, or rather quintets, he formed throughout the years.
Whether it’s an indirect homage to Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins, or John Coltrane, this project revisits the universe of Miles Davis, with a dream rhythm section and two saxophonists as partners in crime. This project, somewhat like a Mission Impossible, aims to honor Miles' legacy across the ages.
For this quintet, we have gathered an exceptional team: Stéphane Mercier (alto saxophone), Vincent Mardens (tenor saxophone), Vincent Bruyninckx on piano, Giuseppe Milacci on double bass, and Mimi Verderame on drums. Together, we aim to tell the story of Miles' music and the legacy of the giants who accompanied him.
