An original and free reinterpretation of Thelonious Monk’s universe
Two kindred horn players, Pierre Vaïana (soprano saxophone) and Michel Mainil (tenor saxophone), join forces to revisit the rich and inventive world of Thelonious Monk… but without a piano!
In this bold and daring project, Paolo Loveri’s subtle guitar takes over the harmonic role, supported by Éric D’Agostino on double bass and Patrick Wante on drums.
This distinctive ensemble offers a fresh take on the bebop master — timeless themes reimagined in a spirit of freedom, swing, and musical fellowship. An inventive evening where Monk’s joyful madness returns — no piano, but plenty of brilliance!
