No guitarist or pianist in sight, just the rawest form of jazz, stripped of any harmonic artifice.
Sal La Rocca and Jan De Haas form the complete rhythm section, providing a magical foundation with a bass line, a pulse, and the energy of a drummer. This allows any horn player to blossom in total freedom.
Our three pals will attempt to bring you a selection of George Gershwin’s music, along with works by other great American composers of the era, in an unusual format that gives the saxophone full space to breathe and converse freely.
Prepare for an evening of contrasting moods and styles, meant to charm lovers of Gershwin and Sonny Rollins (who turns 95 this year). We’ll try to follow their path…
A true challenge, under the shadow of the Saxophone Colossus still echoing in our ears and hearts.
